Yuste Foundation Launches the 19th Call for the Carlos V European Award

With the aim of recognising individuals, organisations, projects or initiatives that, through their efforts, have contributed to the general advancement of knowledge and to the enhancement of Europe’s cultural, social, scientific and historical values, or to the unification of the European Union, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation hereby announces the 19th Carlos V European Award, endowed with a prize of thirty thousand euros. The award ceremony will take place at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste on the occasion of Europe Day in 2026, at an event presided over by His Majesty the King of Spain, or by the member of the Royal Family to whom he may delegate.

Nominations may be submitted in Spanish or English by previous award winners; members of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste; Spanish embassies anywhere in the world; diplomatic missions in Spain of the Member States of the European Union (EU), of countries belonging to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA); members of the European Economic Area (EEA), or of candidate and potential candidate countries to the EU.

Proposals may also be submitted by institutions, public bodies, cultural, scientific, academic or socio-economic entities, as well as by any interested person who is a national of or resident in EU Member States, in countries belonging to EFTA, or in EEA member countries.

The winning nominee must undertake to attend the award ceremony in person and to take part in the activities and events organised by the Foundation in the days before and after the ceremony.

The jury will be composed of prominent figures from the political, academic, scientific, institutional, social and cultural spheres of Extremadura, the rest of Spain and Europe, including former award winners and members of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste.
