COHESION AND SOLIDARITY POLICIES IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

Online, from 14 to 18 September 2020

Annual course organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation on the process of European integration, which in the year 2020 aims to offer an updated and detailed overview of the profile, content and results of the European Union’s cohesion and solidarity policies over the past five years, while also paying attention to their basic origins and objectives and their main milestones and difficulties.

Special attention will be payed to four complementary facets of these policies which are the most defining and priority: (1) Economic cohesion and fiscal harmonization measures; (2) Social cohesion policies and promotion of European citizenship; 3) Actions for territorial cohesion and the balanced development of the European area; 4) Policies of intergenerational solidarity through public pension systems. Each of these facets and dimensions will be the subject of relevant analysis sessions, work and discussion, in a format that will include both the presentation of contextualising explanatory addresses and the corresponding forum for dialogue and debate between the speakers and the participants in the course.
