Director General of Foreign Action outlines how Spain and Portugal’s entry to the European Union signalled the start of cooperation between the two countries
Rosa Balas Torres, Chief Executive of External Action and President of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Executive Committee today opened the course entitled: ‘The European integration process: 30 years of European Union in Spain and Portugal (1986-2016)’ taking place until Friday at the Royal Monastery of Yuste, the Foundation’s headquarters.
AEXCID Director defends mainstreaming of cooperation
José Ángel Calle Suárez, Director of the of Agencia Extremeña de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AEXCID) (Extremadura International Cooperation Agency for Development Extremaduran) took part in today’s course, ‘Prospects, strategies and challenges of the European Union: conflict and safety threats in a global context’ with a focus on the refugee crisis and political transition. Rosa Balas Torres, Director General of Foreign Action for the Regional Government of Extremadura and President of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Executive Committee gave the closing speech, in which she said the debate and reflection encouraged throughout the courses at Campus Yuste “makes for a stronger and better Europe”.

The European Academy of Yuste Foundation is holding its third international summer course included in the Campus Yuste academic programme with the course ‘The World of Carlos V: 500 years of Protestantism. The impact of the Reformation on imperial Europe and today’s Europe’, held on 12 and 14 July.
Campus Yuste tackles the eradication and prevention of endemic diseases
José Ángel Calle Suárez, Director of AEXCID – Extremadura’s International Development Cooperation Agency, opened the course ‘Europe facing global challenges, from cooperation to development. The eradication and prevention of endemic diseases: malaria’ which is part of the Campus Yuste academic project from the European Academy of Yuste Foundation.
Simone Veil, Carlos V European Award holder, has died
French lawyer and politician Simone Veil (Niza, 1927), who won the Carlos V European Award in 2008, has died at her home in Paris at the age of 89. The President of the Foundation, the Board of Trustees, members of the Academy and the whole team at the European Academy of Yuste Foundation feel the enormous loss of this great person, politician, defender of women’s rights, and committed Europeanist, expressing deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
The new European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation will strengthen Extremadura’s role in Europe and Ibero-America
The European Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Board of Trustees, presided over by the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, today approved the agreement for its merger with the Extremaduran Centre for Study and Cooperation with Ibero-America (CEXECI), which will form the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation.
Campus Yuste programme launches with a course on the Treaties of Rome and Maastricht and ongoing advances in the process of European integration
The European Academy of Yuste Foundation launched its Campus Yuste training programme today with the opening event on ‘From the Treaty of Rome to the Maastricht Treaty. Ongoing advances in the process of European integration’ which is on until Friday at the Royal Monastery of Yuste.
