Guillermo Fernández Vara, President of the Regional Government of Extremadura and President of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation, has opened the summer course entitled ‘Prospects, strategies and challenges of the European Union: conflict and safety threats in a global context’ organised by the Foundation together with the University of Extremadura.

The European Academy of Yuste Foundation is offering 120 grants to fund enrolment fees, accommodation, and subsistence for candidates attending various international summer courses organised by the Foundation in collaboration with the University of Extremadura. Candidates will be selected through a public grants call which will look at applicants’ academic transcripts.
European Academy of Yuste Foundation mourns the passing of Helmut Kohl, Carlos V European Award holder
The former German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, awarded the Carlos V European Award in 2006, has died at the age of 87 at his house in Ludwigshafen. Kohl received the award at a formal ceremony presided over by the King and Queen of Spain at the Royal Monastery of Yuste. Also attending the ceremony were other Carlos V Award recipients: former president Felipe González who gave a tribute to Chancellor Kohl, the former Belgian prime minister and president of the European Popular Party Wilfried Martens, and former president of Portugal, Jorge Sampaio, among other personalities.
European Academy of Yuste Foundation judges Sofia Corradi, Mamma Erasmus grants
Ten young researchers of six different nationalities have been selected by the jury for the European research and mobility grants in European studies linked to the European Carlos V Award to Sofía Corradi-Mamma Erasmus, aimed at students preparing their doctoral theses in various fields of study.
Pre-registrations open for Campus Yuste programme’s international summer courses
The European Academy of Yuste Foundation has opened pre-registrations for international summer courses from the University of Extremadura as part of the Campus Yuste training programme held throughout June and July at the Royal Monastery of Yuste.
Yuste champions a renewal and examination of the European project
The European Academy of Yuste Foundation presented the Carlos V European Award to former Minister for Foreign Affairs and ex-MEP Marcelino Oreja, in a formal ceremony presided over by Felipe VI. As from this year, the award ceremony will be held annually on 9 May to coincide with Europe Day.
