The city of Melilla hosted from 15 to 17 September the Second International Forum on European Cultural Routes, organized by the International Network of European Routes of Emperor Charles V, with the collaboration of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation and the European Institute of Cultural Routes. The purpose of this forum was to promote Cultural Routes as working tools to consolidate tourist destinations which count on interesting cultural alternatives on offer in the European and international market. This meeting also provided the opportunity for managers and promoters to learn about first-hand experiences and best practices of other routes and destinations, to promote collaboration and exchange of ideas. Special emphasis was given to the role of European Cultural Routes in the development of European identity in the Mediterranean area. The forum was attended by speakers coming from the peninsula and from countries around the Mediterranean including Italy, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.
