Yuste Foundation’s Board of Trustees approves its 2020 Action Plan and the merger with CDIEX

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation’s Board of Trustees met in Mérida under the presidency of the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, and approved its 2020 Action Plan, which includes a broad and diverse activity programme that will contribute to keep delving into the study and analysis of European reality as well as to foster and consolidate the ties between Extremadura, Europe and Ibero-America.

Additionally, the Board of Trustees approved the merger with the Centro de Documentación e Información Europea de Extremadura (CDIEX) – (Documentation and Information on Europe Centre of Extremadura) – through absorption. So far, this centre was in charge of the dissemination of European values through education and training when collaborating with other institutions, entities, and of the value of the documents it manages.

In this manner, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation consolidates itself as an institution that promotes the study and analysis of European reality from Extremadura.

2020 ACTION PLAN

Among the activities that stand out are: the training programme Campus Yuste, which includes the international summer courses organised in collaboration with the University of Extremadura; the International Symposium for Young Researchers: Extremadura and America, where Americanist young researchers, PhDs and PhD students will gather to present their new lines of research; Tribuna Euro-Ibero-America, a programme that includes presentations made by experts in different university centres and Aula Abierta, which includes a variety of academic activities, such as seminars, conferences, round tables or encounters with debates or reflections on historical subjects or related to present time affairs.

An outstanding activity of the Foundation will be the delivery of the European Carlos V Award, which his organised coinciding with Europe Day under the presidency of His Majesty King Felipe VI. The foundation will announce the next call to present proposals for the 14th edition of this award at the beginning of January.

The Foundation’s academic and research field will focus on already consolidated activities, such as the calls for the Carlos V European Award – “European Research and Mobility Grants for European Studies- and the “Doctoral Seminar” where the chosen contributions presented through these grants will be presented, and the Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses. Relations between Ibero-America, Europe and Extremadura.

In addition, the Foundation will keep working on cultural and awareness programmes as the Emperor’s Concerts, the Film Production Workshop, in collaboration with the Iberian Festival in Badajoz; school programmes on Europe and Ibero-America carried out in different education centres of the region, and the Network of Routes of Emperor Charles V, whose Managing Board is chaired by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation.

In the like manner, Yuste Foundation will continue to strengthen its editorial line, which focuses on historical subjects related to Europe and Ibero-America and on reflecting on current Euro-Ibero-American socio-political affairs, and to gather the research works from the Doctoral Seminar, organised within the framework of each Carlos V European Award edition.

The Foundation will, furthermore, keep working with other national and international associations, foundations and entities to strengthen networks and to keep having bridges between Europe and Ibero-America.
