The staff of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation held a working meeting in Plasencia to advance work on the Strategic Plan that will set out the institution’s main priorities for the next four years. The institution’s director, Fernando Pizarro, highlighted the main objectives as “strengthening links with Ibero-America; increasing the Foundation’s recognition among the public in the region; and consolidating Extremadura as a bridge between Europe and Ibero-America”. Before the working session began, the mayor of Plasencia, David Dóniga, and the director of the university centre, Rodrigo Martínez, welcomed the Foundation’s staff and offered their support for the development of future joint activities. According to Pizarro, the meeting also served “to strengthen ties between institutions and devise new projects for the future”.

For the Foundation’s director, the Strategic Plan is conceived as a key tool which, once approved by the president of the Regional Government of Extremadura and president of Yuste Foundation, María Guardiola, “will chart the course the institution will follow during the new period”, he said.

“It is a diplomatic, academic and cultural tool whose challenges include continuing to develop the Foundation’s statutes and ensuring that its work becomes increasingly well- known and valued by the public”, the Foundation’s director explained. In this regard, Pizarro stressed the institution’s commitment to becoming an essential organisation valued by the public for the activities it carries out in the region, “contributing to greater knowledge of Extremadura and to its visibility as a bridge between Europe and Ibero-America”.

Yuste Foundation’s 2027–2030 Strategic Plan will provide a roadmap aimed at strengthening the Foundation’s European and Ibero-American dimension, increasing its presence and recognition within Extremaduran society, and continuing to promote its academic, cultural and cooperation activities from Extremadura.
