ACTIVIDADES
IBERIAN DIALOGUES. JOSÉ SARAMAGO: A MINUTE, A CENTURY
Monastery of Yuste (Cáceres), from 27 to 29 June 2022.
This course is organised for the third consecutive year in collaboration with the Regional Government of Extremadura’s Cross-Border Initiatives Office. It intends to strengthen relations in the field of linguistic, literary, cultural and academic cooperation, which are a development opportunity in cross-border regions such as Extremadura, as well as in Ibero-American and other geographical areas where Spanish and Portuguese are common and communication languages.
The aim of this activity is to enhance the value of language and culture as tools for building broader bridges of cooperation, generating new opportunities for intercultural dialogue, mobility and the establishment of international alliances that allow sustainable development and the promotion of the most disadvantaged territories that are threatened by depopulation and lack of opportunities.
In 2022 the course will focus on the figure of José Saramago on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Portuguese Nobel Prize, who was named a member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste in 1998, occupying the Rembrandt Chair.
