THE FUTURE OF EUROPE: OPPORTUNITIES ON SHARED AND GLOBAL CHALLENGES
Online, from 12 to 15 July 2021
A course on the process of European integration that aims to provide a detailed analysis, vision and reflection on the challenges and opportunities offered by the Future of Europe at a critical moment, but also key to the launch of the Conference on the Future of Europe. This is presented as an opportunity to define the Europe we want, and what its competences, priorities and strategies should be, in the long term, by providing a new impetus to European democracy.
While a new 2021-2027 financial framework is being negotiated, reinforced by a recovery plan and the #NextGenerationEU initiative, we need to tackle major internal and external challenges: the health, economic and social crisis caused by the Covid19; and the major global challenges that urgently need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability, stability and development not only of the EU, but of the planet – climate change, an inclusive digital transformation, and the development of a future economy at the service of people-. To achieve this, we must rethink the functioning of the EU and give it the necessary strength and powers to carry out its mission.
The citizenry asks for solutions, not knowing that on many occasions it does not have competence for it.
