HOW CAN WE FIGHT DISINFORMATION? YOUR OPINION COUNTS IN EUROPE

Online, 2 June from 17.30 to 19.00 pm.

Online disinformation poses a substantial threat to democracies. Disinformation erodes trust in institutions and the media, and harms democracies by hindering citizens’ ability to make informed decisions. It affects freedom of expression and, in the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, disinformation also threatens to have a direct impact on citizens’ health.

With the aim of listening to citizens’ proposals on what actions we need at individual, national and European level to combat disinformation, the European Documentation Centre of Extremadura, which is part of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, in collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Spain and the University of Extremadura, is organising the online event.
