Campus Yuste Programme Tackles Iberian Cultural Relations

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has included the proposal “Iberian and Transatlantic Cultural Dialogues. Identities in Contact” in the 2020 Campus Yuste Programme courses. It will be held virtually from 29 September to 3 October.

The course, directed by Antonio Sáez Delgado, professor at the University of Évora, aims to offer a plural and dynamic vision of the numerous flows of contact established between these spaces in modernity, through a methodology that favours a perspective based on subjects such as literature, language, journalism and history.

First-level speakers from different universities, writers, journalists or representatives of cultural institutions with long experience in dealing with the numerous dialogues established between the Iberian Peninsula and the Ibero-American continent will participate.

One of the objectives of the course is to give a true picture of the areas of contact that exist between territories that share the Portuguese and Spanish languages, among other cultural ties of great importance in a global world in which so-called “cultural diplomacy” increasingly takes on a leading role.

It will have 500 places to enrol, in addition to 50 tuition grants, for those who want to officially formalise registration and be able to have an official certificate from the University of Extremadura and the 0.5 credits it offers.

The course, in which the Directorate General for External Action participates as far as its organisation is concerned, counts with the collaboration of the universities of Extremadura and Évora, and with the participation of prominent lecturers, such as Lídía Jorge, Luis García Montero, Elvira Lindo, Pilar del Río, Ana Paula Laborinho, Javier Rodríguez Marcos and Leonídio Paulo Ferreira, among others.
