With the aim of creating spaces for dialogue and reflection, and providing a joint response to the common challenges faced by the countries of the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of the Government of Spain, have organised the meeting entitled “EU-CELAC Relations: Creating Certainty in the Face of Common Global Challenges”, which will take place on 21st and 22nd November at the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe (Cáceres).

Academics, experts, and specialists from Spain, Italy, and Mexico gathered for four days at a scientific and academic congress aimed at interpreting and uncovering the legacy of the so-called “Twelve Apostles of Mexico” in today’s society. These intellectuals, brought together by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Royal Academy of Extremadura for Arts and Letters, sought to highlight through presentations and discussions the humanistic, social, political, cultural, and religious contributions of the twelve Franciscan monks who traveled from the convent of Belvís de Monroy to Mexico, leaving a lasting impact as a model of Spain’s best heritage in America.

The “Twelve Apostles of Mexico” played a crucial role as cultural mediators, protecting indigenous peoples and promoting equality among native communities.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PUCPR) have organised the academic forum “European Integration and its Social Model of Freedoms”, where European community-building and civic participation are analysed from the perspective of European social thought.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Ministry of Defence inaugurated the 2nd Security and Defence Sessions on the Ibero-American Space this Wednesday with the aim of analysing various aspects at a time when geopolitics and geostrategy are being redefined and significant challenges are emerging. These include the role of the Armed Forces in Ibero-America in supporting the control of irregular immigration, the relationships between organised crime and the State in Ibero-America, and the fight against drug trafficking in the Ibero-American space.

Once again, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised a new series of “Emperor’s Music” concerts along with the Patrimonio Nacional. They will be held this Saturday, 21st September, and the following Saturday, 28th September, both at 13:00 pm.

The “2nd Sessions on Security and Defence in the Ibero-American Space”, organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, will be held on 18 and 19 September in the afternoon at the Caja Almendralejo assembly hall in Cáceres. Topics to be discussed include the role of the Armed Forces in managing irregular immigration, the relationship between organised crime and the State in Ibero-America, and the fight against drug trafficking in the Ibero-American space.

Close to 600 students from 22 countries have enrolled in the training programme Campus Yuste, which is organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, as part of the 25th International Summer/Autumn Courses of the University of Extremadura. Of the 578 registered individuals, 218 participated either in person or online.

The regional minister for Presidency, Interior, and Social Dialogue, Abel Bautista, closed the course “European Union – Latin America and the Caribbean Relations: New Times and Renewed Commitments” this Thursday. The course was held at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste as part of Campus Yuste and was attended by over 70 students from 14 countries. Also present at the closing ceremony were the regional minister for Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports, Victoria Bazaga, and the director general for External Action, Pablo Hurtado.
