With his appointment the knowledge of a decisive period for contemporary Spanish and European history is reinforced and made possible as it goes from the twenties to the eighties of the last century, years that encompass the Second Republic; the Spanish Civil War and its international repercussions; World War II; Francoism and the Transition.

Moradiellos García, who will occupy the Herodotus of Halicarnassus Chair, is professor of Contemporary History at the University of Extremadura, Doctor of History by the University of Oviedo, previously a professor at the University of London (Queen Mary College) and at the Complutense University of Madrid.
