During his speech, the president of the Foundation thanked all the members of the Board of Trustees for the work they performed in recent years, stressing that, in his opinion, the Foundation carries out “serious and valuable work as far as the projection of Extremadura is concerned”.
In turn, the director of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno Piñero, recalled the Foundation’s most important activities during 2022, highlighting the delivery of the Carlos V European Award to the European Disability Forum as well as the attendance of King Felipe VI, honorary president of this entity, to the meeting held by the Board of Trustees at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste in order to commemorate Yuste Foundation’s 30th anniversary.
During the meeting, Moreno Piñero also detailed the good results achieved with the training programme Campus Yuste, which is framed within the University of Extremadura’s International Summer/Autumn Courses. It enrolled 610 students from 27 countries; 90 grants were given; and more than 50,000 views were reached on the Foundation’s YouTube channel.
The director of the Foundation also mentioned the School of Guadalupe, which brings together the activities of Yuste Foundation in Guadalupe. Thus, during 2022, the “2nd International Congress Relations between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: A Meeting Space” was held, which brought together young researchers, Americanist doctors and doctoral students with the aim of presenting their new lines of research, among other activities.
During 2022, the Foundation expanded its catalogue with the publication of several volumes in its different collections, which are devoted to historical topics related to Europe and Latin America, to reflect on current Euro-Ibero-American socio-political events and to doctoral theses. In addition to this is the compilation of monthly issues of the Academy of Yuste’s 2022 Newsletter, which have been published in a printed Annual, thus becoming a source of information and consultation.
