Yuste Foundation Mourns the Passing of Sofia Corradi, Carlos V European Award Laureate
The Italian educator Sofia Corradi, better known as “Mamma Erasmus” and awarded the Carlos V European Award in 2016, has passed away at the age of 91 in Rome. Corradi studied at the Columbia Graduate School of Law, earning a Master in Comparative Law. She graduated with honours in Law from the University of Rome La Sapienza and conducted research on the right to education as a fundamental human right at the UN Human Rights Commission, the Hague Academy of International Law, and the London School of Economics.

One of Yuste Foundation’s Courses Places Extremadura as a Reference of Agrarian and Livestock Law
Fifty judges and magistrates, notaries and property registrars participate in the course “Agrarian and Livestock Law” that has been inaugurated at the Parador de Turismo of Jarandilla de la Vera (Cáceres) as a result of the agreement signed between the General Council of the Judiciary and the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and which emerges with the aim of making Extremadura a national reference in this legal science.
António Guterres, Winner of the Carlos V European Award
The jury of the 16th edition of the Carlos V European Award, which is granted by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, has decided to deliver the prize to Portuguese António Guterres, current Secretary-General of the United Nations “for his proven, extensive and long-standing life career devoted to social commitment, the process of European integration, the promotion of multilateralism and human dignity as the core of his work, addressing global challenges and crises”.
A Conference Highlights the Role of Journalism in Conflict Areas
More than 360 people from nineteen countries have registered in the 2nd Conference “Revealing Conflicts. Journalism and Communication for International Cooperation”, which has been inaugurated today at the Faculty of Documentation and Communication Sciences of the University of Extremadura. This conference, which has been organised by Yuste Foundation along with the Extremaduran International Cooperation Agency for Development and the University of Extremadura, is directed by the Extremaduran reporter who specialises in conflicts, Ángel Sastre.
The Academy of Yuste Denounces the War in Ukraine
A year into the war in Ukraine, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste has adopted the Declaration of Yuste, where it condemns “so much unnecessary and undeserved human suffering” while expressing its “sincere and profound solidarity” with the Ukrainian people, who have been “ravaged by unjustified and condemnable military aggression by a neighbouring nation that has been culturally and spiritually linked to it for centuries”.
YUSTE FOUNDATION ORGANISES A CONFERENCE ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RENEWABLE ENERGY AND INDUSTRIAL GROWTH IN EXTREMADURA
Yuste Foundation has organised the seminar “Next Generation, Renewable Energies and Industrial Development in Extremadura” along with the University of Alcalá, to be held next Friday morning, on 17 February, in Guadalupe (Cáceres).
Photojournalists, war correspondents and investigative journalists meet at the 2nd conference on journalism, communication and international cooperation
Following the success of the first edition and taking the need to continue delving into the approach to international conflicts through communication and journalism into account, Yuste Foundation along with the Extremaduran International Cooperation Agency for Development and the University of Extremadura, have organised the 2nd conference entitled “Revealing Conflicts. Journalism, Communication and International Cooperation”, to be held on 1 and 2 March at the Faculty of Library and Documentation in Badajoz, although they can also be followed online. The conference is led by the Extremaduran reporter Ángel Sastre.
The deadline to submit papers for the international congress on relations between Extremadura, Europe and Latin America is open
The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation together with the University of Extremadura and the Research Centre for Studies on Ibero-America of the Rey Juan Carlos University (CEIB-URJC) have opened the deadline for the presentation of papers for the 3rd International Congress on Relations between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, which is entitled “Images and Views on Both Shores” in this edition. The sessions will be held in Guadalupe (Cáceres) from 21 to 23 March 2023.
TEN RESEARCHERS FROM EUROPE AND LATIN AMERICA ARE SELECTED BENEFICIARIES OF THE CARLOS V EUROPEAN AWARD GRANTS
Ten researchers from Spain, Romania, Belgium, Colombia and Argentina have been selected beneficiaries of the Carlos V European Award – Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe European Research and Mobility Grants on European Studies. Two of these beneficiaries are students from Extremadura and are pursuing their doctorate at the University of Extremadura. The topic of this edition was “Culture, heritage, history and memory for the promotion of European values, integration and peace”.
Yuste Foundation is awarded for its European cultural activity
The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has been awarded the “Award to European Cultural Activity” delivered by Aquí Europa-Canal Europa, the specialised information service in the European Union that produces news entirely in Spanish from Brussels.
Yuste Foundation Announces the 2022 Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses
The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) signed a memorandum aimed at articulating the framework of collaboration between the two institutions in order to carry out activities in the fields of education and culture.
