The 9th International Congress on Relations between Latin America and the Caribbean with Europe Proposes an Alliance between Both Regions to Influence the Global Order
The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, the University of Extremadura (UEx), and the Ibero-American Research Centre of the Rey Juan Carlos University (CEIB-URJC) have organised the 9th International Congress on Relations between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, which this year is entitled “The Role of Latin America and Europe in a World at War”. The session will take place on 25 March in the Sala Capitular of the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe.

The doctoral thesis Pintura, comercio e intercambio cultural entre Sevilla y Nueva España (1620–1640), by Dr. Ester Prieto Ustio, has been awarded the 9th Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses, organised by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation. This study offers an in-depth understanding of the cultural and artistic exchanges between Spain and New Spain, highlighting the significance of transatlantic trade in the 17th century.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has received thirty-one doctoral theses competing for the 2025 Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses. The award aims to support the work of young researchers while fostering reflection and the exchange of ideas on Ibero-American and European topics. The submitted theses come from universities in Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, Argentina, Hungary, Colombia, Portugal, the United States, Cuba, France, and the Dominican Republic.
Yuste Foundation Announces the 18th Carlos V European Award
The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has launched the 18th edition of the Carlos V European Award with the aim of recognising individuals, organisations, projects, or initiatives that have contributed to the broader understanding and promotion of Europe’s cultural, social, scientific, and historical values, or to the unification of the European Union. This award includes an economic endowment of €30,000.

The Regional Government of Extremadura and Yuste Foundation Mourn the Passing of Federico Mayor Zaragoza
The Regional Government of Extremadura and the board of trustees and staff of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation express their deepest condolences on the passing, at the age of 90, of Federico Mayor Zaragoza, former minister of Education and Science and former director-general of UNESCO. Mayor Zaragoza was also a member of the Academy of Yuste since 2008, when he was inducted into the Leonardo Da Vinci chair during the ceremony to deliver the Carlos V European Award to French lawyer and politician Simone Veil.
