Yuste Foundation Mourns the Passing of Sofia Corradi, Carlos V European Award Laureate

The Italian educator Sofia Corradi, better known as “Mamma Erasmus” and awarded the Carlos V European Award in 2016, has passed away at the age of 91 in Rome. Corradi studied at the Columbia Graduate School of Law, earning a Master in Comparative Law. She graduated with honours in Law from the University of Rome La Sapienza and conducted research on the right to education as a fundamental human right at the UN Human Rights Commission, the Hague Academy of International Law, and the London School of Economics.

The Role of Youth in the Future of Europe under Discussion in a New Meeting Organised by Yuste Foundation

Yuste Foundation is organising the webinar “Youth and the Future of Europe” which will take place on 13 May at 5.30 p.m., with the aim of discussing key issues to define how to improve European youth policy and encourage active participation of young people in the process of European construction. The meeting is part of Yuste Foundation’s Cycle of Meetings called “Guadalupe as a Destiny”, which is organised on the occasion of the Holy Year of Guadalupe 2021, and is also held around the commemoration of Europe Day. It also aims to contribute to the Conference on the Future of Europe.

The doctoral thesis “Cirurgiões, práticas e saberes cirúrgicos na América portuguesa no século XVIII”, by the Brazilian Monique Palma, won the I Research Prize to Ibero-American Doctoral Theses convened by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation. The prize was awarded in the framework of the I International Congress, “Relations Between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: A Meeting Space”, held between 18 and 20 March at the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Guadalupe.
