Campus Yuste Begins with a Course that Commemorates the 40th Anniversary of Spain’s Accession to the EEC

To mark the 40th anniversary of the signing of Spain’s Treaty of Accession to the European Economic Community, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised a course entitled “40 Years Since Spain Joined the European Economic Community”, which will take place from 2 to 4 July at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste. The course forms part of the Campus Yuste educational programme, which is affiliated with the 26th edition of the University of Extremadura’s International Summer/Autumn Courses.

This morning, the Royal Monastery of Yuste hosted the award ceremony for the Thirteenth Carlos V European Prize awarded by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, which for the first time is awarded to an initiative, the Cultural Itineraries of the Council of Europe. In his speech, His Majesty King Felipe VI highlighted the need to work collectively to tackle global challenges with a Europe that is more united, stronger and more effective in meeting the expectations of its citizens.

His Majesty the King will preside Europe Day on Thursday, 9 May, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste, the award ceremony of the Thirteenth Carlos V European Prize, awarded by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, which for the first time has been awarded to an initiative, the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, which have served to turn culture into an instrument for better knowledge of Europe and Europeans.
