The MEP and Co-President of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat) of the European Parliament, Ramón Jáuregui Atondo, has defended Europe and Latin America joining together in his opening speech as member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste, “in the defence of reason and rationality of the responsibility towards citizens, and the democratic and humanist values that both continents share in order for them to progress”.

The award ceremony will be held on 9 May, Europe Day, at the Royal Monastery of Yuste with the attendance of the King.

The congress ‘Hernán Cortés in the 21st century. The Fifth centenary of the arrival of Cortés in Mexico’ aims to “continue building bridges between people and places of origin and destination for all that it has meant and means in the adventure of discovery, conquest and evangelization of the New World”, according to César Chaparro, academic director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation.

Ramón Jáuregui Atondo will take office as a member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste next Friday, 5 April, during a ceremony that will take place at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Regional Government of Extremadura.

More than 200 primary 5 pupils from the schools of Talayuela and Navalmoral de la Mata visited the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation to attend a talk on European Construction, in addition to enjoy a visit to the Saint Jeronimo Royal Monastery of Yuste.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation and the Puerta de America Foundation have signed a framework partnership agreement to establish means that open the way for cultural, academic and scientific actions.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised a conference on “Los médicos de Macondo. La medicina en la obra de Gabriel García Márquez” (The Doctors from Macondo. Medicine in the work of Gabriel García Márquez), which will be given in the Assembly Hall of the University of Plasencia on Thursday 28th at 5pm by the Doctor of Medicine and Professor of the History of Medicine and Nursing from the University of Cádiz, Juan Valentín Fernández de la Gala.

After 450 years since they were made, the Flanders tapestries in Badajoz cathedral revive their brilliance by becoming the unifying thread of the international meeting of ‘De Flandes a Extremadura. Humanismo y Naturaleza en los tapices de Badajoz’ (From Flanders to Extremadura. Humanism and Nature in Badajoz tapestries), which is held today and tomorrow in the Badajoz Official School of Pharmaceuticals with the presence of distinguished experts from Italy, Belgium and Spain.

More than seventy foundations from Spain and Portugal come together in Mérida to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals, communal challenges, the contributions that each can make and the partnerships that may be established.

This meeting will include the participation of the High Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda from the Spanish government, Cristina Gallach.
