The Board of Trustees and staff of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation regret the death of Martti Ahtisaari, former president of Finland and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2008. Ahtisaari was a member of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste. He occupied the Nicolaus Capernicus Chair during the ceremony of the Carlos V European Award to Simone Veil on 18 June 2008.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has come together with other entities from Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean through a triangular cooperation alliance in order to jointly and complementarily work together to exchange knowledge and tools in terms of cultural routes and itineraries.

With the aim of contributing to the promotion of democracy, respect for human rights, the promotion of peace and international concord, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the sessions entitled “Security and Defence in the Ibero-American Space”, which will be taking place today and tomorrow at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters in Cáceres.

With a view to contributing to the promotion of democracy, respect for human rights, the promotion of peace and international harmony, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the “Sessions on Security and Defence in the Ibero-American Space”, to be held on 26 and 27 September in the assembly hall of the University of Extremadura’s Faculty of Philosophy and Letters.

One more year, the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation has organised the Cycle of the Emperor’s Music concerts along with National Heritage, which will be held on the Saturdays of 16 and 23 September 2023, at 13:00 pm, at the church of the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste. There will be free admission until full capacity is reached.

At the opening of the course “Youth and Human Rights Activism”, the director of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno Piñero, claimed that these sessions are “different and necessary because they speak of the present but above all of the future”. In his opinion, the issue has an impact on civil society and young people in particular since more than sixty people from twelve countries have enrolled, “and not in all these countries, he stated, is respect for human rights sufficiently guaranteed”.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation aims to encourage and facilitate the participation of young people to be active participants in the European integration project and in an international cooperation context; the course “Youth and Human Rights Activism” will thus be held from 18 to 20 July.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation continues with its objective to further deepen knowledge of the construction of the European project and the values which it is based on; to this end, it schedules the course “The Protection of Common Values in the European Union” from 11 to 13 July.

The Board of Trustees of the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, which met today under the presidency of the acting president of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, approved the 2022 annual accounts, which make a net profit of more than 65,000 euros, allowing the Foundation to count with a net worth of more than four 400,000 euros.
