Yuste Foundation Hosts a European Meeting to Address Women’s Contribution to Sustainable Development in Rural Areas
Over 40 participants, mostly women, from different sectors across the region of La Vera (Cáceres, Extremadura) met on 2 and 3 October at the Monastery of San Jerónimo de Yuste and in Pasarón de la Vera for the activity “Not Letting None Behind: The Challenge of Rural Areas”, framed within the European project funded by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values Programme (CERV), “Her Voice: Her Power, Our Future! Women Leading the Way to Sustainability”, in which representatives from municipalities, institutions and universities from Slovenia, France, Italy, Romania, Poland, Latvia and Spain also took part.

Angela Merkel, 14th Carlos V European Award
The jury of the 14th edition of the Carlos V European Award, granted by the European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation, has decided to award the prize to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in “recognition of her long political career in the service of Europe, having been a strong supporter of the European integration process and of the important strategic role of Europe in the international scene”. This was announced today at a press conference by the General Director of External Action of the Regional Government of Extremadura and President of the Executive Committee of Yuste Foundation, Rosa Balas, along with the Director of Yuste Foundation, Juan Carlos Moreno.

The European and Ibero-American Academy of Yuste Foundation opened the course “Iberian and Transatlantic Cultural Dialogues: The Spirit of Avant-Gardes, a Century Later” today, where the mark left by the avant-garde spirit throughout the 20th and early 21st centuries will be analysed and reviewed. The course runs until next Friday, 2 July, from 17:00 to 19.30 pm.
